22 February 2022

Energy Superhub Oxford is among those shortlisted for the Clean Energy Scheme Award at Regen’s Green Energy Awards 2022.

The Clean Energy Scheme Award commends projects that are spearheading the clean energy industry and delivering significant carbon savings.

Energy Superhub Oxford is pioneering an integrated approach to decarbonising power, transport and heat to accelerate Oxford’s zero carbon journey. The project showcases a powerful network of rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging, hybrid battery storage, low carbon heating, and smart energy management, combining new technologies and financial models to create a blueprint for towns and cities across the UK to cut carbon emissions and improve air quality.

The awards are a leading national celebration of pioneering innovation and sustainable development for the UK’s energy system. Following a challenging year, the awards will once again highlight the outstanding efforts of those transforming the UK energy sector.

More than 120 entries were submitted this year by companies, communities and individuals across the UK for consideration in six categories.

Tim Rose, Programme Manager for Energy Superhub Oxford at Pivot Power, part of EDF Renewables, commented: “Energy Superhub Oxford is an ambitious and innovative project, which shows how the public and private sector can come together to accelerate a net zero future. These awards are fantastic recognition of the team’s collaboration and the project’s impact. Ultimately our aim is to create a blueprint that towns and cities across the UK can use to cut carbon and improve air quality.”

Merlin Hyman, chief executive, Regen, said: “Across the UK there are inspiring people leading pioneering projects and paving the way to a zero carbon energy system. The Green Energy Awards are all about celebrating their achievements and inspiring us all to rise to the challenge of transforming how we power our lives and heat our homes.”

Energy Superhub Oxford, along with the other shortlisted nominations, will now go through to the final stage of judging by an expert panel of independent judges, before the winners are announced at the dazzling awards ceremony on 30 March 2022.
